Adesso’s Newest WebPay Module Combats an Increase in Deduction Volume Due to Compliance Staff Reductions
Rolling Meadows, IL., June 30, 2009— Economic conditions appear to be causing to a surprising increase in CG trade promotion deductions across the industry as reported in the April edition of The VCF Report. "Seventy-Eight percent (78%) of VCF Report readers say staff reductions in compliance correlate to an increase in deduction volume."*
Adesso’s newly launched WebPay module helps CPG companies in this area by efficiently handling payments to distributors and indirect retailers that ERPs can’t, while better managing deductions through collaborative processes between manufacturer and retailer. To combat the potentially negative effect of staff reductions, Adesso’s WebPay allows users to systematically issue checks for samples, promotions, unsalable products, and other related promotion and logistic activities on site.
This is especially useful to accommodate quick and easy payments to indirect retailers or distributors, versus traditional Accounts Payable processes. “An increase in deductions could mean that the shipper's order fulfillment, shipping and billing processes are likely to fail unless they are closely supervised,” says Robert House, principle of the consulting firm HouseGroup. “It is also possible that deduction volume is increasing because retailers are scrutinizing shipments more closely and/or introducing new requirements as they attempt to control costs in the face of significant retail sales declines,” he concludes. WebPay helps with these challenges by offering greater control, ease of use, and outstanding reporting tools.
A new feature also allows pre-authorization for payments at the time of data input. This facilitates real-time reporting to track spending as checks are issued in the field. “This new process adds to the Sarbanes Oxley integrity of the product and leverages timely management visibility for complete financial control”, comments Tony Poidomani, Adesso’s CFO. “WebPay can handle payments that the ERP can’t handle –especially with distributors and indirect retailers.” WebPay also features functionality for Performance Management documentation. This allows for any additional field paperwork to be scanned, imaged, indexed and attached to the draft copy for proof of performance, future retrieval, and audit requests.
With Adesso’s comprehensive product suite, CPG companies and retailers can align their TPM processes during challenging economic times. Adesso’s VP of Sales, Mary Antil says, “The last thing our customers need to worry about is the possibility that staff reductions will increase deductions and take a larger bite out of profits. They now have a solution that can help them be proactive instead of reactive in tough economic times.”
